Sussex Drug And Alcohol Jobs Website - DAAT Sussex

A recruitment website – the first of its kind in the UK – has been launched by the Drug and Alcohol Action Teams (DAAT) in East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton and Hove.

The site - www.sussexdaatjobs.org - offers a wide range of job opportunities that are both challenging and satisfying, said Elizabeth Flegg, Workforce Development Manager. "This comes from making a real difference to people who have taken a wrong turn in life by helping them to change their lives.

"From Drugs Counsellors to Nurses, Administrators to Project Workers – all are working towards reducing the harm caused by substance misuse using education, training, treatment and counselling."

The website features:
  • Information on working and volunteering in the field of substance misuse.
  • Several job profiles, produced by real workers in Sussex.
  • Information about working for local substance misuse organisations who are placing their advertisements for free on the website.

"So it is a good place to look for work," said Elizabeth Flegg.

The site also works as a broker agency – registered employers can view the information people have given about their skills and abilities and the type of work they are interested in.

Pat Arculus, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Adult Services, said: "What makes the substance misuse field so interesting to work in is that it spans so many parts of the community, including housing, employment, young people and Criminal Justice.

"It is extremely important that we have a rich mixture of good workers in order to make a real difference to peoples' lives in West Sussex"

As well as logging on to the website, you can also contact Elizabeth Flegg on 01243 382935.
