09/07/08 New Sidney West Centre - A chance for the
first look
An open day on Saturday 12 July will give local people the first chance
to look around the new Sidney West Centre in Leylands Road, Burgess
Hill. The public are invited to view the new community facilities
between 11am and 1pm.
The Sidney West Centre is a £700,000 facility jointly funded by Mid
Sussex District Council (£470,000) and West Sussex County Council
(£230,000). Now the building is completed, Burgess Hill Town Council
will handle the day-to-day management of the centre.br>
The new centre will provide a hall and meeting rooms, which can be hired
by local community groups, as well as new showers, and changing rooms
for local sports clubs, including St Andrew's Cricket Club.
The new centre will also include a Children and Family Centre run by
West Sussex County Council. The facility will be a one-stop-shop for
families with children of all ages to visit for advice, guidance and
support.
"The Sidney West Centre represents a significant investment and provides
greatly enhanced community facilities in Burgess Hill, so I hope as many
people as possible come along to view them," said Councillor Garry Wall,
Mid Sussex District Council Cabinet Member for Leisure and Outdoor
Services. "Council representatives will be on hand to show people around
and talk about the range of facilities on offer to local people."
